Clinical study on a case of the menstrual migraine.

Abstract
Purpose :The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatment for the menstrual migraine.

Methods :The patient in this case, 45-year-old female, visited Dongguk University oriental medical hospital for recurring headache and the chief complain had occurred at menstrual phase. The patient also have had PMS(Premenstrual syndrome) and PMDD(Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). Menstrual migraine was diagnosed by MacGregor¡¯s definition. His definition was that menstrual migraine should be defined as ¡¯migraine attacks that occur regularly on or between days -2 or +2 of the menstrual cycle and at no other time¡¯. So the patient was treated by the combination therapy of electro-acupuncture and herbal medicine during luteal phase and menstrual phase.

Results :The combination therapy of electro-acupuncture and herbal medicine was effective to menstrual migraine through Premenstrual Daily Symptom Diary and even to PMS and PMDD.

Conclusion :It is expected to increase demand of oriental treatment under the circumstance of insufficient western treatment for menstrual migraine and after this, many researches and case studies will be needed about the menstrual migraine.
